New to our ultra premium GE Museum Reserve range, is the 2015 Greenock Estate GE Museum Reserve Merlot.

A small parcel of fruit was personally selected by our winemakers, from a single vineyard located near the highest point of the Barossa Valley.

Once handpicked, the grapes are partially destemmed and crushed and put into open top fermenters where the ferment was gently hand plunged twice daily for 14 days.

After a period of 3 months extended maceration on skins, the wine is then basket pressed and matured in Allier French Oak Barrels for 4 years before bottling.

Tasting Note:

Colour: Bright brick-red.

Bouquet: Fully lifted five-spice, mulberry and ripe plum making for a very complex and deep aroma. The spice comes from the Allier French Oak and is so very suited to Merlot. The maturity in the aromas comes through the extra time in Allier oak and gives a fragrance that no other oak seems to give.

The fully ripened grapes play a big part in the depth and intensity of the bouquet.

Taste: Rich, full-on flavour not heavy at all but very rewarding. Abundant soft drying tannins and distinct taste of dark red fruits all in balance. A big wine with power and elegance in the structure and with an impressive individual style.

Overall: A truly sophisticated wine made with care to fuller oak maturation.

This wine needs to be decanted before tasting and recognition that the second sip will be better than the first.

A wine that will be at its best in 10 years time.
